11 Pre-Calculus
Objectives:

The goals of Senior 3 Pre-Calculus Math are to ensure that students:

  • Value Mathematics
  • Are confident in their mathematical abilities
  • Are mathematical problem solvers
  • Communicate mathematically
  • Reason mathematically and think critically
  • Are proficient in basic skills and concepts


Outline:
Unit A: Quadratic Functions
Unit B: Trigonometry
Unit C: Algebra
Unit D: Analytical Geometry
Unit E: Consumer Math
Unit F: Logic/Proofs
Unit G: Functions
Unit H: Geometry

Grades and Reporting:
Grades will be based on tests, assignments, class participation and exams. Tests will occur on every second Friday and will be cumulative. Mental math will be done during the first five minutes of a majority of the classes. Your mental math mark will consist of an average of the best 4 out of 5 days. Missing a class when mental math is done means you get a zero for that day.
The final grade will be based on:
Mental Math - 10%
Homework/assignments - 25%
Tests - 35%
Final exam - 25% - There are no exemptions.
