Course Outline
General Information:
1. No Exams
2. Three large assignments
3. Assignment policy: If assignments are not handed in on their due date, a 10% will be deducted for every school day to a maximum of 50%
Evaluation:
45% - tests
15% - Biblical Evidences paper - due March 2
15% - World Religions paper - due April 26
15% - Cults presentation - on assigned date in January
10% - Scripture memory - Ephesians 6:10-20 - memorize by March 23
- 1 John 4:1-6 - memorize by May 18
Biblical Evidences paper:
This assignment gives you an opportunity to do some research to find evidences that support the fact that the Bible is true. There are many evidences out there - make sure you find information that you will be able to use as an apologist. You may pick 3 of the 5 following topics: Scientific, Prophetic, Uniqueness of the Bible, Corroborating or Archaeological Evidences. Maximum length - 4 typed pages
World Religions Paper
There is a choice of 2 assignments:
1. Five page essay on a religion of your choice (no cults or satanism). Discuss three main points of the Religion - History, Basic Beliefs, Christian reaction/Biblical Response
2. Three page essay on a religion of your choice and a Visual Presentation (no cults or satanism). Discuss three main points of the Religion - History, Basic Beliefs, Christian reaction/Biblical Response. Some examples of the Visual Presentation might be a poster, collage, power point or video.
Some examples of different Religions: Janism, Taoism, Shinto, Judaism, Marxism, Sikhism, Confucianism, Zoroastrianism, Baha'i, Animism
Cults Presentation
Research a Cult and present the information to the class in a creative way. Each presentation should be a minimum of 15 minutes in length. Time will be allowed at the end of each class for questions. You will work in groups for this project. An information chart showing a comparison between thier beliefs and yours is also part of the assignment.
Some examples of different cults: Raelianism, Unification Church, Scientology, Free Masonry, David Koresh, United Pentecostal Church, Swedenborgianism, Armstrongism, Solar Temple
