This compulsory full-credit course is designed to help youth take greater ownership of their own physical fitness, to encourage them to seek out activities that interest them, and to engage in active lifestyles into their futures. The focus of this content will be on core health, personal planning and fitness. Students will be required to develop and implement the remaining 25 – 50 % of the course on their own time in a personal physical activity plan as part of the physical activity practicum.
Assessment and Reporting:
For the grade 11 and grade 12 PE/HE credits, students will be graded for completion of the course using complete/incomplete designations and not percentages. Therefore, assessment and report may look different than both student and parent are accustomed to but the principals and best practices remain the same. As part of earning a credit for this course, students will be required to submit a personal fitness portfolio containing elements such as a fitness plan, physical activity log with journal entries. Please note that this course will not be calculated in your G.P.A. but it does count towards your 29 (for grade 12’s) or 30 (for grade 11’s) credits now required for graduation.
