 PP on Using Phrases and Clauses.   Assigned character chart. Do a character a day.

Thursday, October 15th

Discussed what made texts 'good' and what made them 'bad'.  Read "Intro to Reading Literary Texts" and discussed difference between 'fluff' and 'literary' texts. Written assignment due Oct 20th. Use two different types of phrases two times each in piece. Underline phrases used.

Friday, October 16th

Journals. Discussed more characters from character list.  Began discussion on Allegory.

Monday, October 19th

Worked in groups to discover allegorical roles for characters. Began discussion

Tuesday, October 20th

Finished allegorical discussion. Task; discover how Simon shares some of the same characteristics of Jesus.

Wednesday, October 21st

Discussed Simon's allegorical role. Learned about the name of the text.

Thursday, October 22nd

Returned "Style and Theme" poems. Due date for resubmission for Poetry contest is November 2nd.

Writing Response Task a la provincal exam. Describe how the use of allegory can enhance the meaning of a text. Due at end of class.

We finished video taping. Journal Surpise!!  Write a persuasive essay in which you convince your fellow classmates to participate in Spirit Week

Our PSAs are done!! Yea!! We watched them in class and debriefed on the proccess and choices that were made to persuade. Well done all of you!
We recieved the test review and talked about it briefly.
