What is a Works Cited Page?

The Works Cited Page is a separate page at the end of your paper that lists ALL the resources that you used to research your paper.

SCHS requires that all of the resources listed in your Works Cited page be referred to IN your paper.

Preparing the list of works cited

Begin the list of works cited on a new page at the end of the paper. Centre the title Works Cited about one inch from the top of the page. Double-space throughout.

  1. ALPHABETIZING THE LIST
    1. Alphabetize the list by the last names of the authors (or editors); if a work has no author or editor, alphabetize it by the first word of the title other than A, An, or The.
  2. INDENTING
    1. Do not indent the first line of each works cited entry, but indent any additional lines one-half inch (or five spaces). This technique highlights the names of the authors, making it easy for readers to scan the alphabetized list.
  3. WEB ADDRESSES
    1. Do not insert a hyphen when dividing a Web address at the end of a line. Break the line after a slash. Also, insert angle brackets around the URL.
