Welcome from MHSAA

On behalf of 188 member schools of the MHSAA, welcome to the 2008 Provincial High School Cross Country Running Championships. We hope that this championship will provide you with a memorable experience. We have over 1,500 young men and women participating in Cross Country, and the participants are indeed to be congratulated for their advancement to these provincials. Many hours of training now reach a culmination. Runners and teams now have a chance to display their talents and to try and reach the podium to be rated as one of the best. Any athlete who has attained this level of competition representing one's school deserves credit for his or her own personal victory. Perhaps one of you will represent Canada at the London 2012 Olympic Games. The Manitoba High Schools Athletic Association would like to thank Dairy Farmers of Manitoba, Manitoba’s Credit Unions, and Sport Manitoba for their continued support with all Provincial Championships. Congratulations to those who have advanced to this provincial, and who will be competing for the coveted titles of MHSAA Champion. Directions

Carman is 40 minutes southwest of Winnipeg on Highway #3. Roseisle is 25km west of Carman on Provincial Highway #245. Go 1 mile west of Roseisle on Hwy #245, then turn left and go 2.5 miles south, then right one mile to the Birch Ski Area. There are Birch Ski Area signs on the corners.

Schedule

11:30am - Coaches Meeting
12:00pm - JV Boys team and open 5000m
12:30pm - SR Boys team and open 5000m
1:00pm - JV Girls team and open 3000m
1:30pm - SR Girls team and open 3000m

Course

3km Girls
5km Boys

The Birch course is a challenging run through fields and bush with several short hills. The boys' course includes a longer 1 km climb and 1 km descent.

Registration

Coaches will register their athletes with their zone convenor who will then send the registrations to the provincial convenor.
